Kaushik holds a doctorate in Environmental Sciences with Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, and Pondicherry University as his alma mater. He has authored numerous scientific research articles that have been published in prestigious international journals from publishing houses such as Elsevier, and Sage publications, garnering over 500 citations to date. He was a Junior Research Fellow (JRF), and later Senior Research Fellow (SRF) during his research tenure. After completing his PhD, despite achieving notable advancements in academia, he made the courageous decision to devote his time to writing novels, a passion that had been a longstanding aspiration of his since his school days which could never flourish due to the pursuit of an education geared towards physicians and engineers.
The enthralling and distinctive culture, customs, traditions, folklore, and lush splendour of his native land in Assam, India, which encompasses wilderness, paddy fields, and endless stretches of tea gardens, sparked his fervour to write stories about a period and place that is rapidly undergoing transformation due to globalisation. He experienced a childhood that was rooted in the indigenous soil, yet freed from its taboos and restrictions by the literary works that portrayed the vast world outside, igniting his imagination, curiosity, and wonder.
Kaushik and his partner Aditya, who is a lawyer and activist for LGBT rights, currently reside full-time in a farm in the Nilgiris of Kerala. Kaushik has decided to dedicate his entire time to writing, while his partner is attempting to transition from law to farming.
Phd awarded by the eminent physician, and director of JIPMER, Pondicherry, Dr. Rakesh Aggarwal
